Ciao, amici!
💫 Dreaming of living in Italy and moving abroad? If so, don’t miss this episode.
Host: Angie Smith from Texas to Tuscany and Olive and Pine Homes in Italy.
Topic: Crucial self-reflection before making the move to Italy.
Personal Story: Burnout, health struggles, and the desire for a more fulfilling life led to her bold move at age 50!
As most of you know, I decided to take a massive leap in 2023. I quit my high paying career in tech, I sold my house in Texas, I sold my car and most of my belongings and bought a house in Tuscany, Italy! It’s been quite the journey.
Today I wanted to share with you something that I think many people don’t really think through before they move abroad or before making a big transition like this. In this week’s episode, I’m challenging you to really spend some time asking yourself a few questions. And be honest with yourself! This helps prepare you from a life that is often very different than what you see online and in movies. I’ll share my personal experience moving from Texas to Tuscany, and give you some food for thought that I didn’t really think through fully before signing the dotted line and committing to this.
But spoiler alert, it’s been the best decision, even on the hard days.
Some of the Topics I’m Covering:
✅ Topic 1: Understanding Your ‘Why’
Moving abroad isn’t just about a dream—it’s about purpose.
Are you seeking adventure or escaping something?
Are you looking for a fresh start or a long-term lifestyle change? Or both?
✅ Topic 2: The Key Questions to Ask
Am I adaptable to uncertainty?
Do I have financial stability?
How will I handle being away from family? Birthdays, holidays, weddings?
Can I adjust to a slower pace? A life less convenient?
Do I have a plan for income?
✅ Topic 3: Practical Steps to Test the Waters
Extended stays are highly recommended!
Rent before you buy - explore Italy first
Learn the language - it can make your experience so much better
Build connections - create community
